Organizing a Multi-Category Factory Tour on Short Notice
A U.S.-based toy and novelty company selling over 1,000 SKUs through major online marketplaces. Their product line spans plastic toys, inflatable toys, and other novelty items, with individual SKU volumes ranging from 2,000 units to over 100,000 units per year. The company was exploring Vietnam as a manufacturing base and needed to evaluate factories in person.
Tight timeline, multiple product categories, and a schedule that kept changing
The client needed to visit manufacturers in Vietnam but was working on a compressed timeline. The trip was arranged on short notice, leaving very little runway for factory identification, vetting, and scheduling. The product range also complicated things: plastic toys and inflatable toys require completely different manufacturing processes, different types of machinery, and different factories. A single factory visit wouldn't cover it.
To make things harder, the schedule shifted multiple times during the trip itself. Factory availability changed, meetings needed to be rearranged, and the itinerary had to be rebuilt on the fly without losing the factories that mattered most.
Rapid factory identification, scheduling, and on-the-ground problem solving
Short-Notice Factory Sourcing
We identified and vetted manufacturers across multiple toy categories on a compressed timeline. Each factory was pre-screened for capability, capacity, export experience, and willingness to accommodate the client's visit on short notice.
Multi-Category Matching
Because the client's product line spans plastic molded toys and inflatable products, we needed factories with different core capabilities. We matched each product category to the right type of manufacturer rather than trying to force everything into a single factory.
Guided Factory Visits
Our sourcing manager accompanied the client to every factory meeting, providing bilingual translation, logistics, and on-the-ground coordination. When the schedule changed mid-trip, our team rearranged visits in real time to keep the itinerary productive.
Post-Visit Follow-Up
After the factory tour, we facilitated introductions between the client's broader team and the factories for detailed quoting discussions. The handoff from visit to quotation was seamless because our team had already established the relationships on the ground.
"Your manager is really professional and a problem solver. Although schedules changed, he always found ways to accommodate and to make things work."Founder, U.S. toy and novelty company
From Short-Notice Request to Factory Partnerships
Despite the compressed timeline and shifting schedule, the client visited manufacturers across their key product categories and left Vietnam with factory relationships ready for quoting. The client's team followed up directly with the factories Cosmo introduced, moving into detailed product discussions within days of the visit.
"Just wanted to thank you for arranging everything on short notice. Looking forward to working with you in the future again."Founder, U.S. toy and novelty company, message sent while leaving Vietnam
Built for speed, designed for the long term
What started as a short-notice factory evaluation turned into an ongoing sourcing relationship. The client returned to Cosmo for additional projects, and the factories introduced during the initial visit became long-term production partners. The client also agreed to serve as a reference for future Cosmo clients.
