What Products Are Made in Vietnam? Vietnam Manufacturing and Sourcing Complete Guide

Vietnam manufactures clothing, footwear, furniture, electronics, plastics, steel, bamboo products, coffee, packaging, and dozens of other product categories. The country is the world's third-largest garment exporter, second-largest footwear exporter, and second-largest furniture exporter. In 2025, Vietnam's GDP hit $514 billion with 8.02% growth, and total trade exceeded $930 billion.

I've been sourcing products from Vietnam since 2014. Over that time, I've personally visited hundreds of factories, worked with over 4,000 clients, and helped source more than 10,000 products from the country. What I can tell you from experience is this: Vietnam's manufacturing base has grown faster than anyone predicted, and the range of products you can source here today would have been unthinkable a decade ago.

That said, Vietnam isn't a one-stop shop like China. The first question I always ask when a client approaches us is, "Can this actually be made in Vietnam?" If it can, it will often be cheaper or higher quality than the identical product from China. Sometimes both. But not everything can be made here, and understanding where Vietnam excels is the key to making smart sourcing decisions.

Are you looking to source from Vietnam but are unsure what's made there? Want to know more about Vietnam's manufacturing landscape?

Vietnam is an excellent place to source products, assuming your product can be made here. While Vietnam has a massive, rapidly growing industrial base, it doesn't cover every industry as thoroughly as a particular country to the north. If your product is made in Vietnam, it will likely be cheaper or of a higher quality than the identical product from China. Many people are finding that products can be cheaper AND better in Vietnam. We'll review the products that can be manufactured in Vietnam.

Popular Products Made in Vietnam

Clothing and Textiles

Vietnam exported over $44 billion in textiles and apparel in 2024, with over 6,000 factories employing roughly 2.5 million workers. Nike, Adidas, Patagonia, The North Face, H&M, Uniqlo, Gap, Lululemon, and Zara all have significant production here. Next time you buy a shirt, check the label. There's a solid chance it says "Made in Vietnam."

What I've noticed working with apparel factories over the years is that Vietnamese manufacturers handle technical fabrics exceptionally well. Moisture-wicking activewear, four-way-stretch leggings, and performance outerwear with sealed seams. These aren't basic cut-and-sew operations. The skill level has risen dramatically.

The range covers t-shirts, denim, hoodies, outerwear, swimwear, underwear, athletic apparel, and workwear. If it's a garment, Vietnam almost certainly has factories that can produce it to a high standard. For a deeper look, check out our complete guide to clothing manufacturers in Vietnam.

Footwear

Vietnam is the world's second-largest footwear exporter, generating over $24 billion in exports in 2024. Nike alone sources an estimated 50% of its global shoe production from Vietnam. Adidas, Puma, Skechers, and New Balance all have major operations here as well.

I've visited footwear factories here that are genuinely impressive. The precision stitching, integration of cushioning technology, and sole attachment processes are not low-end operations. Vietnam produces over 90% of its shoes for export, the highest rate in the world.

The category spans athletic shoes, casual sneakers, canvas shoes, sandals, flip-flops, boots, cold-weather footwear, and dress shoes. Vietnamese factories have expanded well beyond warm-weather specialties to serve year-round needs, working with leather, synthetics, faux fur linings, and waterproof membranes. Our guide to shoe manufacturers in Vietnam covers specific factories and the vetting process.

Wood at a Factory in Vietnam

Furniture and Wood Products

Vietnam is the world's second-largest furniture exporter, with exports reaching $17.5 billion in 2024. The U.S. accounts for nearly 60% of Vietnam's furniture exports, and Vietnam has surpassed China as the top furniture exporter to the American market with $9.4 billion in shipments in 2024.

We've sourced everything from beach chairs and high-end patio sets to bedroom furniture and commercial office pieces. The range spans IKEA-level mass production to boutique custom woodworking. Companies like IKEA, Ashley Furniture, and West Elm all manufacture here. Vietnam has tremendous access to high-quality hardwoods and also exports over $5 billion in finished wooden products annually beyond furniture.

Categories include living room, bedroom, outdoor, and office furniture, plus home storage products made from bamboo, rattan, seagrass, and water hyacinth. Many manufacturers hold FSC and PEFC certifications for sustainable forestry. See our guide to furniture and wood manufacturers in Vietnam.

Electronics

Electronics exports exceeded $107 billion in 2025, representing over 23% of total export turnover. Samsung manufactures most of its Galaxy smartphones here and exports around $58 billion annually from the country. Intel, LG, HP, Canon, and Foxconn all have significant operations.

Beyond major brand production, Vietnamese factories produce phone cases, chargers, power banks, keyboards, mice, webcams, smart home devices, and desk accessories. Vietnam's main appeal in electronics isn't just cost. The country has a highly skilled workforce capable of complex technical manufacturing. The ecosystem around anchor companies like Samsung and Intel now supports broad consumer electronics production.

Plastics and Rubber

Vietnam exports over $5 billion a year in rubber and plastic goods, ranging from consumer products such as sunglasses and pet toys to industrial components and automotive parts. Production methods include injection molding, extrusion, welding, blow molding, and thermoforming. Rubber manufacturers handle extrusion, latex dipping, molding, and calendaring.

Vietnam is one of the few countries with a fully vertical supply chain for rubber goods. The agricultural base supplies raw rubber and latex directly to factories producing finished products. That vertical integration is something I don't see replicated in many other sourcing destinations.

Iron, Steel, and Metal Products

Vietnam is the largest consumer and producer of steel in Southeast Asia, with a capacity exceeding 16 million tons annually. Steel manufacturing has been one of the country's fastest-growing industries, with growth rates exceeding 20% annually for nearly a decade. We source wire, nails, rods, heavy beams, fasteners, rebar, and finished metal goods for clients. Vietnam also has a vast construction materials industry and significant scrap metal recycling capacity.

Our metal suppliers guide covers this sector in detail.

Bamboo and Eco-Friendly Products

Vietnam has abundant bamboo resources and centuries of expertise with the material. Bamboo furniture, kitchen utensils, cutting boards, serving trays, and bathroom accessories are all strong categories. Beyond bamboo, artisans produce goods from rattan, seagrass, coconut shells, and natural fibers. Coconut-based products have been a pleasant surprise for many of our clients, with southern Vietnamese artisans producing bowls, cutlery, candles, and coir products. Reusable bags made from organic cotton, jute, and recycled polyester are another growing category.

Bags and Luggage

Backpacks, travel bags, duffel bags, handbags, wallets, belts, and leather goods. Factories work with genuine leather, vegan leather, canvas, and nylon, combining textile expertise with quality hardware integration. The craftsmanship in this category is strong across both mass-market and premium segments.

Ceramics and Pottery

Dinnerware, mugs, serving dishes, and decorative ceramics with a long artisanal tradition, particularly around Bat Trang village outside Hanoi. The category combines traditional craftsmanship with modern production, offering both hand-painted artisanal pieces and consistent mass-produced lines.

Coffee

Vietnam is the world's second-largest coffee exporter by volume. Roughly 97% is Robusta, though specialty Arabica production is growing rapidly. We have a dedicated coffee sourcing team. Vietnam's coffee industry exports to almost every major country globally.

Packaging

From cardboard and plastic packaging to labels, bottling, barcoding, and specialty materials. ProPak Vietnam, held annually in March in Ho Chi Minh City, is one of the largest global packaging trade shows.

Pet Products

Pet beds, carriers, leashes, collars, toys, feeding bowls, and grooming accessories. This category has grown significantly as manufacturers apply existing textile and furniture skills to the expanding pet retail market.

Fitness Accessories

Yoga mats, resistance bands, foam rollers, exercise balls, and lightweight workout equipment. This category complements activewear sourcing and enables retailers to build comprehensive fitness lines from a single region. See our guide to activewear manufacturers in Vietnam.

Toys

LEGO's major investment in Vietnam signals the country's capabilities. Factories produce building toys, educational toys, wooden toys, plush toys, dolls, action figures, puzzles, and games that meet ASTM, EN71, and other international safety standards.

Home Textiles

Sheet sets, duvet covers, towels, blankets, throws, and decorative pillows. Factories produce everything from budget percale to premium sateen with high thread counts, and OEKO-TEX certification is available.

Handicrafts and Home Decor

Hand-woven textiles, pottery, lacquerware, traditional paintings, and decorative items. This is a category where "Made in Vietnam" carries genuine artisanal credibility.

Where to Find Manufacturers in Vietnam

Vietnam's manufacturing clusters into specific regions. Understanding which cities specialize in what saves a lot of time.

Ho Chi Minh City and the surrounding provinces (Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An) form the largest manufacturing hub. This is where you'll find the heaviest concentration of garment, footwear, furniture, consumer goods, and packaging factories. Binh Duong alone has massive industrial parks with hundreds of foreign investors and over $7 billion in total investment.

Hanoi and the northern corridor (Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong) is the electronics hub. Samsung's factories are in Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen. This region is also strong for garments, heavy industry, and traditional ceramics.

Central Vietnam (Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Quang Nam) is developing into a furniture and wood-products corridor, with Binh Dinh posting over $1 billion in wood export revenue in 2024.

The country has over 220 industrial zones and 16 economic zones that offer tax incentives to foreign investors. Our guide to finding Vietnam manufacturing companies covers every platform and resource available.

Vietnam Manufacturing by the Numbers

Vietnam's GDP hit $514 billion in 2025 with 8.02% growth, the strongest since 2011. Manufacturing accounts for nearly 25% of GDP. Total trade exceeded $930 billion, with exports topping $475 billion. The country now has over 42,000 active foreign investment projects. The manufacturing sector employs nearly 11 million people across over 100,000 registered factories, and Vietnam has 37 export categories, each generating over $1 billion annually.

Vietnam Sourcing Tips From Experience

Start with supplier verification. Vietnam's manufacturing ranges from world-class Fortune 500 suppliers to smaller operations with variable capabilities. Factory audits are not optional.

Confirm certifications before committing. OEKO-TEX for textiles, FSC for wood, ASTM or EN71 for children's items. Make sure your supplier actually meets your target market’s requirements.

Built-in lead time. Sourcing, manufacturing, and shipping from Vietnam takes longer than from China. Plan accordingly, especially during peak seasons.

Invest in relationships. Vietnamese business culture values long-term partnerships. Suppliers who feel respected provide better service and flexibility. I've experienced this personally more times than I can count.

Have a product spec sheet ready. One of the most common mistakes I see is buyers approaching Vietnam without clear specifications. Get this right before you start reaching out to factories, and the entire process will go more smoothly.
