How to Find Steel Wire Manufacturers in Vietnam: Top Factories List

Vietnam is one of Southeast Asia's largest steel producers, and its steel wire manufacturing sector has grown rapidly over the past decade. If you are sourcing steel wire, wire rod, galvanized wire, steel cables, or related products, Vietnam offers competitive pricing, established production capacity, and proximity to major shipping routes. This guide covers what you need to know to find the right steel wire manufacturer in Vietnam, including the types of products available, the factories that produce them, and the practical steps for vetting suppliers.

At Cosmo Sourcing, steel products are one of the leading categories we source for clients in Vietnam. I have personally visited steel wire and metal fabrication factories across southern Vietnam, particularly in Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces, where much of the country's steel wire production is concentrated. This guide draws on that firsthand experience.

Vietnam's Steel Wire Industry at a Glance

Vietnam's overall steel industry produced approximately 29.4 million metric tons of finished steel in 2024, a 6.1% increase over 2023, according to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA). Steel exports reached 12.62 million metric tons, valued at roughly $9 billion. Wire rod alone accounted for an estimated $1.4 billion in export value.

The country's steel wire production spans several regions. The southern provinces of Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Long An host the largest concentration of wire drawing and galvanizing operations, with easy access to Cat Lai and Cai Mep ports near Ho Chi Minh City. In the north, Hai Phong and the surrounding industrial zones support steel mills and wire manufacturing with direct port access. Hoa Phat Group, the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia, operates major facilities in both the north (Hai Duong, Quang Ngai) and central Vietnam (Dung Quat), producing wire rod and other steel products at scale.

Types of Steel Wire Products Made in Vietnam

Vietnam's steel wire manufacturers produce a broad range of products. Understanding which type you need will determine which factories to approach, since most specialize in a few product categories rather than covering the entire spectrum.

Wire rod is the base material for most downstream steel wire products. It is hot-rolled from steel billets and sold in coils. Vietnam's largest producers, including Hoa Phat and Pomina, manufacture wire rod domestically. Many smaller wire drawing factories purchase wire rod as their input material.

Galvanized steel wire is coated with zinc to resist corrosion. It is used widely in fencing, binding, construction tie wire, and agricultural applications. Vietnam exports significant volumes of galvanized wire, particularly to the U.S., Japan, and Southeast Asian markets.

Stainless steel wire is produced by several foreign-invested factories in Vietnam, including Teng Yuan Wire (Taiwanese-owned, based in Tien Giang) and Ruiyou Precision Components. These factories typically produce wire in diameters from 0.6mm to 15mm for industrial and consumer applications.

Steel cable and wire rope consists of multiple strands of steel wire twisted or braided together. These products are used in elevators, cranes, marine applications, and construction. Vietnam has imposed anti-dumping duties on prestressed steel wire rope imports from Malaysia, Thailand, and China, which has encouraged domestic production.

Welding wire is another significant category. Vietnam is the world's second-largest welding wire exporter by shipment volume, with major producers like Hyundai Welding Vina and Kuang Tai Metal Vietnam.

Other products include spring wire, PC wire (prestressed concrete wire), cold heading wire for fasteners, binding wire, and hard-drawn wire.

Hoa Phat Group is the largest steel producer in Southeast Asia. Hoa Phat produces wire rod, construction steel, galvanized wire, and steel pipes. The group's total crude steel capacity exceeds 8 million tons annually. They export to markets including the U.S., Canada, and across Southeast Asia.

Pomina Steel Corporation was established in 1999 and has an annual capacity of approximately 1.5 million tons. Pomina produces wire rod, rebar, and other construction steel products from facilities in Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

Vina Kyoei Steel is a joint venture established in 1994 with Japanese investment. It has a total annual capacity of nearly 1 million tons and produces wire rod and rebar, primarily for the domestic and regional construction markets.

Hoa Sen Group is one of Vietnam's largest manufacturers of steel sheets and coated steel, operating 11 major factories and nearly 300 distribution branches. While their primary focus is sheet steel and galvanized coil, they also produce steel wire products.

Tung Ho Steel Vietnam was established in 2008 with 100% Taiwanese capital. They specialize in steel billets and construction steel and have wire rod production capabilities.

Teng Yuan Wire Vietnam is a Taiwanese-invested stainless steel wire manufacturer in Tien Giang Province, with an annual capacity of 18,000 metric tons. They produce stainless steel wire with diameters ranging from 0.6mm to 15mm for export markets worldwide.

DUSCO Vina is a Korean-invested manufacturer producing galvanized steel wire and steel fiber, with a total annual capacity of 11,000 tons. They use Korean technology and export to Japan, Korea, and China.

Hyundai Welding Vina is the leading welding wire producer in Vietnam, accounting for nearly half of the country's welding wire exports by shipment volume.

How to Evaluate and Vet Steel Wire Suppliers in Vietnam

Finding factories is one step. Evaluating them properly is where most of the work happens. Here is the process I recommend based on sourcing steel products for clients through Cosmo Sourcing.

Start with product specifications. Before contacting any factory, define your exact requirements: wire type, material grade, diameter range, coating (if applicable), tensile strength, applicable standards (ASTM, JIS, EN, etc.), packaging, and order volume. Vietnamese steel wire factories vary significantly in what they can produce, so clear specs save time on both sides. For a broader look at how to approach this, see our Vietnam sourcing guide.

Verify certifications. Reputable steel wire manufacturers in Vietnam hold ISO 9001 at a minimum. For export-focused factories, look for product certifications relevant to your market, such as ASTM compliance for U.S. buyers or JIS standards for Japanese markets. Ask for test reports from accredited labs, not just internal quality documents.

Request factory profiles and client references. Ask for a factory profile that includes production capacity, equipment list, export history, and major clients. A factory that regularly exports to your target market is more likely to understand the quality and documentation requirements you need.

Conduct a factory visit. I strongly recommend visiting any steel wire factory before placing a significant order. A visit lets you see the actual production lines, quality control processes, raw material storage, and finished goods handling. If you cannot visit personally, a sourcing company like Cosmo can conduct a factory audit on your behalf. We cover factory visits in more detail in our guide to visiting manufacturers in Vietnam.

Order samples and test them. Request production samples, not just marketing samples, and have them tested by a third-party lab in your market before committing to a full order. For steel wire, key tests typically include tensile strength, elongation, zinc coating weight (for galvanized wire), and dimensional accuracy.

Establish clear communication. Many Vietnamese steel factories, especially larger ones, have English-speaking export sales teams. Smaller or domestic-focused factories may require an interpreter or sourcing partner to facilitate communication. Tariffs and Trade Considerations for Steel Wire from Vietnam

Tariff policy on steel products has changed significantly and continues to evolve. Buyers importing steel wire into the United States should be aware of the following:

The U.S. imposes a 50% tariff on steel imports under Section 232, which was raised from 25% in June 2025. This applies to steel products from all countries, including Vietnam, without exception.

Separately, the U.S. and Vietnam reached a trade framework in 2025 that set a 20% reciprocal tariff on Vietnamese goods. However, steel and aluminum articles that fall under Section 232 are generally treated under that separate tariff structure rather than the reciprocal framework.

Tariff policy is subject to rapid change. In February 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that certain tariff authorities under IEEPA were not legally authorized, potentially affecting portions of the reciprocal tariff framework. Buyers should verify current tariff rates with a licensed customs broker before placing orders.

For buyers in the EU, Vietnam benefits from the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which has reduced or eliminated tariffs on many product categories. However, specific steel products should be verified against the current tariff schedule.

Vietnam's participation in the CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership) also provides tariff advantages for exports to member countries, including Japan, Canada, Australia, and Mexico.

Vietnam vs. China for Steel Wire Sourcing

China remains the world's dominant steel producer, and its range of steel wire products is unmatched. However, Vietnam offers several practical advantages for certain buyers. Vietnam's labor costs are lower, and for buyers in the U.S. or other markets subject to steep tariffs on Chinese steel (which can exceed 100% when anti-dumping duties are included), Vietnam provides meaningful tariff savings even after Section 232 duties.

Vietnam's steel wire quality has improved substantially, thanks to foreign investment from Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, which has brought modern equipment and quality systems. Factories like Teng Yuan, DUSCO Vina, and Hyundai Welding Vina operate at international standards.

The trade-off is that Vietnam's product variety and sheer production scale are smaller than China's. If you need a highly specialized or niche steel wire product, China may still be the better option. For standard products such as galvanized wire, wire rod, welding wire, and stainless steel wire, Vietnam competes well in commercial volumes.
