Jim Kennemer

Founder + Managing Director

Jim Kennemer is the Founder and Managing Director of Cosmo Sourcing LLC. Jim founded Cosmo Sourcing in Shanghai in 2012 and initially focused on sourcing outdoor gear under Hartford Outdoor Sports Supply. However, in 2014, he recognized the opportunity of Vietnam as a sourcing destination and moved to Ho Chi Minh City. At this time, he shifted to a general sourcing company and renamed Cosmo Sourcing. Since then, he has helped over 1,000 clients find suppliers in China and Vietnam.

Before Founding Cosmo, he worked multiple positions in The United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC. He has also worked as a White Water Rafting Guide on the Pigeon River in Tennessee. His first role out of College was Volunteering for a year with the Non-profit Impact Alabama (Now Impact America) as part of the AmeriCorps VISTA program. He received his MBA from Hult International Business School at their Shanghai Campus and did his undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama, dual majoring in finance and economics.

Jim Kennemer is a frequent Keynote and guest speaker at Virtual and in-person conferences, mainly discussing Vietnam Sourcing. His hobbies and interests include traveling, hiking, reading, running, biking, curling architecture, and street food. Jim and his wife spent eight years as full-time digital nomads. Since 2020, he has settled down in Madison, Wisconsin, and spends his time not working with his new daughter.
